Collin County (Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen)
Consistently one of the fastest-growing parts of DFW, with a reputation for strong public schools and newer housing stock. That growth means higher price points than much of the rest of the metroplex — you’re paying for the schools and the newness of the development.
Denton County (Flower Mound, Lewisville, Little Elm, Prosper)
A mix of established suburbs and newer master-planned communities, generally with more lake access (Lewisville Lake, Lake Lewisville) than the eastern side of the metroplex. Prosper and parts of Little Elm have seen rapid new construction in recent years.
Tarrant County (Southlake, Keller, Colleyville, Fort Worth suburbs)
Southlake and Colleyville are among the higher-priced family suburbs in the entire metroplex, known for their school districts. Keller and the broader Fort Worth suburbs offer more of a range, with Fort Worth itself having a more established, slightly different character than the newer Collin County growth corridor.
Rockwall & Kaufman Counties
East of Dallas, generally more affordable than Collin or western Tarrant, with Rockwall specifically built around Lake Ray Hubbard. Good option for buyers who want more house for the money and don’t need a Dallas-adjacent commute every day.
